Trump Douglass Lincoln Painting
Просмотров 6893 года назад
This is an oil painting of Donald Trump, Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln. It is oil on canvas 36" X 48". I was trying to get it done by election time but the wind got taken out of my sails on that one, still I don't believe it is so. It has taken a few weeks to shake it off and carry on, the painting is rightfully done now. Personally I think the whole election thing should be done over,...
GETTYSBURG REUNION 1913
Просмотров 47 тыс.4 года назад
This is a high resolution visual of the 1913 50th anniversary reunion at Gettysburg. 53,407 veterans showed up, 8,750 of them were confederates and was the largest Civil War reunion ever. Never before in world history had so many men advanced in years been assembled under under field conditions. It would be the last trip for many of them to Gettysburg.

These images of Sioux Indian Slow Bull are by Edwin Curtis from 1907. The Sioux encampment images are by J. C. H. Grabill from the 1890s. Back in the early 1980s I did a painting of Slow Bull's wonderful face. That way of life was not all that long ago and had much meaning to many.

Trying my hand at painting an American Flag Spirit. The image was inspired by a Union Civil War eagle button. It is to represent any gender, nationality, those who love our flag, people who have served and are still serving our country, THANK YOU
WHAT IS A FLAG by JOSHUA CHAMBERLAIN

General Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain words relating to the American Flag at a event in Camden, Maine, on August 30, 1906. It was the William Conway Celebration where a plaque on a boulder was placed to honor the Civil War hero for refusing to haul down the flag in Pensacola, Florida on January 12, 1861. That is three months before the Civil War started. William stated he had fought under that fl...
With the white muttons.
Its slightly ironic that Woodrow Wilson -- a southerner -- was President at this time.
Love how it runs through lots of images
General Lee! That guy was amazing mannn. A godly Christian man too, so sad, him and many others have been so slandered & intentionally lied about :( 🤦🏾♂️ His lineage was filled with patriots and heroes, from his father, Henry Lee III to Lionel Lee in the Third Crusade. A college president and a War-hero from the Mexican-American War to the War Against Northern Aggression, the greatest American General….. Robert Edward Lee. Salute to you Sir, from an African brother ❤️🇨🇩🇦🇺✝️
This year 2024 world War 2 vets are there now another 10 to 15 more years veitnam vets will be here too . God bless all of them !
God Bless you all!!!
Thank you for sharing the photos. I know that the USS Maine blew up and that several inquests were held pinpointing the cause of the explosion, but never saw photos of her before and after the tragedy or the photos of the funeral services.
This trial was a grave injustice to them. I don't care if they were all guilty. It should never have been a military tribunal. The war was over. It should have been civilian court, but they KNEW they didnt have enough evidence to convict, and the government was out for retaliation and blood. They WANTED a guilty verdict and they might not have gotten it if they had been allowed the right to be tried by a jury of their peers. But Lincoln was also a tyrant as well (suspension of habeus corpus, preventing an entire state from voting, that being Maryland, and then jailing journalists and shutting down papers who criticized him. If orange man bad did that, yall would have picked him up and thrown him out of the white house.), so they were used to and happy doing things like this.
My great uncle James Sockwell fought in the 26th Alabama Infantry at Gettysburg
The last one would be in 1938.
FAL
..Just wonderful...
Spangler was sentenced to 5 or 6 years. Not life.
damn
Thank you for putting this together. Good stuff!
My grandparents remembered Civil War veterans always being at the front of parades in their small town with the national colors. There were only a couple left by the time WW1 veterans started replacing them. I'm happy to have been surrounded by WW2 veterans as a kid at my Dad's Legion Hall as they're now almost all gone.
I read an article where the author (can't remember the author's name; I was still in middle school at the time) alluded to the fact that some of those hanged were guilty by mere association... when you lie down with dogs, you wake up with fleas. But there seemed to be a sort of conspiracy of southern sympathizers planning and hoping to instigate another war... not realizing that the insurrection was hopeless... the south could not afford to pay for another squeamish and they were mostly disarmed by and the northerners would've prevented France from supporting another war...
2:04 its like sukkot
not impressed. exiting out.
They were all guilty.
No mrs. Vickers those aren't Yankee Cannons coming down the road we're still hanging on to Richmond

Wow in that picture of Stage fort you can see the Colonial Arms hotel so clearly!
Not one living soul in this video is living, I am sure; we are talking 110 years ago now. a piece of our history that has passed on, we are now seeing our WW2 Veterans leaving us at 1500 or more a day. they too will soon be gone and pass into history; they are the last Great Nation. It is a very sad thought for me, especially at what I see in this country nowadays.
A part of me wonders who all, if any, who attended the 75th reunion are still alive (i.e. grandchildren, great-grandchildren of Civil War vets, boy scout attendants).
Man these guys must be really old now
I am fascinated to see former "Confederate" soldiers and their legendary battle flags
A beautiful, elegant video. Just a shame about the typos. With so few words, a simple proofread would've made it airtight.
I am not that smart and work alone. :-)
I think its funny that they held an umbrella over Mary Suratts head until they hung her from a rope... Oh the chivalry😂
Very solemn ! Young men that took part in one of the greatest conflicts the world has ever known. Ironically , just nearly 8mos. Later a greater , devastating war would take place in Europe . "The American Civil War " was a harbinger of the 1st WW some nearly 55 years later .
Right before another war that was Evan greater in death and destruction . It started in July 1914 with the assassination of Arch Duke Ferdinand of the Hapsburg Empire . The "American Civil.War " was a harbinger of a greater conflict that would occur on the European Continent on a warm day in July in Sarajevo , Yugoslavia- Hence WW1!
On the cusp of a far worse war, with no reconciliation.
What stories and conversations took place here. 😮
Good soldiers never die...they live forever.
Wow! When ever i see pictures like this of the Civil War it really grabs my heart!
Those are fine-looking 70 year olds.
Edward Sheriff Curtis gave my grandfather a photo of Slow Bull, Mr. Curtis was working in California taking photos of the Mono & Paiute indians,, my grandfather knew the area very well & helped Mr. Curtis locate the places he needed to go. The photo now belongs to me, I think of Slow Bull as a beloved family member, he guides & protects me. He's a beautiful soul.
Wow that is really special❤
Sometimes, NO words are necessary, in the making of a great video.
Thank you friend.
At this point, many thought they would never again see a war of this magnitude One year later....😒
And then 20 yrs after that one...
Sad that the men who were killing each other at this very battle showed more respect to their fellow Americans at this reunion than we tend to do in the modern day.
We're overdue
Shortly after this Reunion would take place, The War To End All Wars would begin.
Yep, What a tragedy that one was and 20 years later another world war. I hate to think that is the way of the world.
Not even "colorized".
I clean them up that is enough for me. :-)
Thanks for sharing!👍😁
This country has fallen so far.
Wow, The stories that were told!
These men would be appalled at America today and how sick it has become. Tragic.
Wilson deserves (but because I'm merciful and would never inflict that fate on anyone} to be sent to hell for setting up the dreaded "FED". All wars lead from that.
Ken, I am now 70 years old and I am just now seeing this. I am from Hagerstown Maryland and I spent many years taking my children to Antietam battlefield. I am sad that there are few comments here. You are the very best and stand up there with Ken Burns. April 12th, 2023 Austin Texas.
I am 70 too, Ken Burns inspired me to start painting people from the Civil War era.
I visited it at Baltimore Inner Harbor, where it is presently. It was small below deck and the Captains Quarters were small, even had a tub for bathing in it.
Outstanding collection. Well done. Thank you
whoa I never knew that about the inner lining of Lincoln’s coat
